Destin....Part II

Zane had lots of fun building sandcastles with his cousin....and then Sam would knock them down.
Kate loved the boogie boards. Actually, they all loved them. We were smart and bought 5 so no one was left out. They did get used quite a bit.
The boys working on one of their sandcastles on the last day we were there...

Will was especially happy since his dad let him sneak a Dr. Pepper out of the cooler! :)

Destin, Florida

This was one of the best vacations we have had in a few years. You know it's a success when we felt like we could stay another week!
We rented a house with Steve's sister and her family. The kids got along really well and the weather was perect.
Zane and Ashley enjoying lunch on the beach....it was a daily ritual.
Sam playing in the ocean. The water was so clear. We haven't been in a few years but I do not remember it being as clear as it was this trip. It was stunning.
We had Sonic drinks at least once a day (sometimes 2 or 3). My sister-in-law lives in the land of very few Sonics and she was determined to get her fill. I think we accomplished that!

Peachtree Jr. Road Race

Jackson and Zane run the Peachtree Jr. every year. It is a 3K race through Piedmont Park with around 2,000 kids. It is lots of fun.
They start the kids in groups based on age. This was the start of Jackson's age group. They start with the oldest kids (12) and end with the youngest (7). The race was on Jackson's actual Birthday this year so he will probably get to run as a 10 year old 2 years in a row!

Memorial Day 2009

Dacula hosts a 5K race and a parade every year on Memorial Day. We have been 6 times in a row so it is now Harkness Family Tradition. This year was rainy and cool...I much prefer that to last year when it was so hot that the kids wanted to leave before the parade finished.
Me with Will and Sam after the 5K. I have no T-Shirts to actually prove that I run this race. I never remember to pre-register and they always run out of T-Shirts. One day I will figure this out and plan ahead...
Sam is usually all smiles when the camera comes out...he was also happy that most of the parade floats throw candy.
Kate with our family friend, Maryn. Maryn is 8 years old and Kate adores her!

Memorial Day 2009

Dacula hosts a 5K run and a parade every year on Memorial Day. We have not missed it since we have lived here (6 times now!). This year it was cool and overcast. It started raining shortly after the parade finished. I preferred this to last year when I was sweating buckets and the kids were ready to go before the parade ended!
Me with Will and Sam after the 5K race. I have no T-shirts to prove I actually run this race because I never pre-register and they run out of shirts every year! One day I will surely wise up. :)
Sam is always smiles when the camera is out...he was also happy because most of the floats throw candy out.

Jake Turns 10!

Jackson turned 10 right after school ended in May. He had several friends spend the night and Steve took them to the Gwinnett Braves Baseball Game. I found out that 10 year old boys can stay up REALLY late and play lots of pranks. My basement was a wreck for a few days after. I found candy in every nook and cranny. Yikes!

Will Graduates from Pre-K

Will graduated from Pre-K in May. He was so ready to be at the "big school" with Jackson & Zane. His school held graduation at the park across the street. It was lots of fun but a little chilly (hence the arms in his shirt while his class was singing) for May.
We have learned that Will is a Class Clown. He made lots of funny faces to get everyone's attention when it was his turn to walk across the stage.
This is Will and his best buddy, McKay. They go to church and school together and play more than once a week. So cute!
